Prof. Zhang Guoping Research Group Participates in the 19th Australia Barley Technical Symposium

From 8th to 13th September, 2019, the 19th Australia Barley Technical Symposium (ABTS) was held in Perth, the capital of Western Australia. Since 1983, the ABTS has enjoyed a highly academic reputation in the field of barley and malt over the world. The ABTS organizing committee has arranged 51 conference reports and 14 oral reports.

Prof. Zhang Guoping from the Crop Institute, College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Zhejiang University was invited to participate in the fieldwork organized by the Western Australian Barley Association, and a special report entitled Identification and characterization of Tibetan wild barley accessions with high low-N tolerance was presented at the conference. At the same time, two doctor students Fu Liangbo and Wu Liyuan and a master student Kuang Liuhui supervised by Prof. Zhang Guoping, made oral reports entitled Metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses reveal the difference in salt tolerance between barley and rice, Identification of microRNAs in response to aluminum stress and Identification of microRNAs responding to salt stress in barley by high-throughput sequencing and degradome analysis, respectively. In addition, Dr. Han Yong from Murdoch University (received doctorate from Zhejiang University and supervised by Prof. Zhang Guoping) also gave a wonderful report entitled CRISPR-Cas9 Genome editing and precision barley breeding.
