Prof. SHU Qingyao Attended the 2019 FNCA Workshop on Mutation Breeding

The 2019 FNCA (Forum on Nuclear Cooperation in Asia) Workshop on Mutation Breeding was held in Kula Lumpur in Malaysia from 3-6 September 2019. It was sponsored by the Nuclear Safety Association (Japan) and organized by Nuclear Malaysia. The conference consisted of one Open Seminar on Application of Radiation Technology and Mutation Breeding for Sustainable Development and subsequent Workshop on progress and planning of the Mutation Breeding Project. Eleven countries participated in the FNCA Mutation Breeding project and principal investigators (or their representative) of each country participated the Workshop.

Prof. SHU delivered an invited speech for the Open Seminar, entitled "Generation and evaluation of OsNramp5 mutants by targeted mutagenesis for breeding low cadmium rice". He also chaired one session and reported progress on rice mutation breeding in the FNCA project framework.

A meeting minutes was approved by all participants and it was decided next workshop will be held in August 2020 in Thailand.
