Five PhD Students from Institute of Insect Science Win the Two Best in the 4th ICIG

       During July 2rd to 6th, the 4thInternational Conference of Insect Genomics (ICIG) and International Symposium on Insect Physiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IPBMB) was held in Chongqing, China.The faculty and students of the Institute of Insect Science of the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology gave 12 oral presentations, and presented 6 academic posters. PhD Student Chen Mengyao, Li Danting and Ye Xinhai won the Best Student Oral Presentation. PhD Student Wang Beibei and Cong Yuyang won the Best Student Poster.

The theme of the joint conference is “Insect Science for Better Application”. The scope of the joint conference covers insect comparative genomics and evolution, insect physiology and biochemistry, insect development and genetics, insect immunity, insect biotechnology and pest control, parasitoid genetics and genome, silkworm genome and etc. Professor Zhang Chuanxi, Ye Gongyin, Li Fei, Xu Haijun, postdoc He Kang, Xiao Huami, Yan Zhichao, Teng Ziwen and Wan Bin from the Institute of Insect Science attended the conference.Professor Ye Gongyin made an opening speech and gave a special presentation on parasitoid genetics and genome entitled "Genomic and venomic studies of several important parasitoids". Professor Li Fei were invited to present conference report entitled “MicroRNA - 20e - JH interactions in insects and their applications in controlling pests” by the attention of the international counterparts.Professor Li Fei presided over the final conference report and the award ceremony.

During the conference, teachers and students had exchanges and discussions with scientists from other universities in China, the United States, France, Germany, the Netherlands and other places, which laid a good foundation for future research and further international cooperation.
