Prof. Åke Strid from Örebro University in Sweden visited ZJU and participated in the 2nd NSFC-SINT China-Sweden Cooperation Seminar

Prof. Åke Strid, Vice President of Örebro University, Sweden, and Dr. Luis Orlando Morales Suarez and Dr. Minjie Qian, members of his laboratory, visited CAB of ZJU from May 17 to May 23, 2019. The visit was jointly funded by NSFC-STINT corporation project. 

During their stay in Hangzhou, Prof. Strid and his colleagues visited laboratories of CAB, and fruit orchards in Zhejiang province. Prof. Yuanwen Teng and Prof. Åke Strid, PIs of NSFC-STINT cooperation Project, co-chaired the second NSFC-SINT joint seminar. At the meeting, Prof. Teng highlighted the research progress of the pear research team of CAB over the past year. Prof. Strid delivered a speech entitled “Multiple Role for Vitamin B6 in Plant accumulation to UV-B”. Other members of both laboratories from ZJU and Örebro University also made oral presentations involved in plant reaction of UV-B, fruit coloration, flavonoids biosynthesis and dormancy etc.

Professor Åke Strid, a well-known Swedish scientist, graduated with a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Stockholm University, Sweden. Recently he is mainly involved in research on plant response to ultraviolet signals and plant vaccines. He has published many papers in reputed international journals including Plant Physiology, Plant, Cell & Environment, Plant Biotechnology Journal and Trends in Plant Science, etc.
