Prof. Zhu and Prof.Zhang attended the 27th PAG Academic Conference

Professor Shuijin Zhu, Professor Tianzhen Zhang, Associate professor Jinhong Chen and Postdoc Ting Zhao from Institute of Crop Science, attended the “The Plant and Animal Genome XXVII Conference (PAG)” in San Diego, USA (January 12-16, 2019). 

The PAG conference is held every year in San Diego, and it is an essential gathering for researchers in files of Plant and Animal genomics. The conference has been full 6 days, consisting of 208 workshop and a poster section. There were more than 3000 attendees. The workshop included: Comparative Genomics, Domestication GenomicsGenomic Selection and Genome-wide Association Studies. IWGSC- wheat Genome manual and function analysis, Transposable elements, Plant Epigenetics and Epigenomics etc.

Professor Tianzhen Zhang served as chairman of the International Cotton Genome Initiative (ICGI) and Professor Shuijin Zhu served as co-chair of the ICGI Breeding and Applied Genomics workgroup. During the meeting, Professor Tianzhen Zhang organized the cotton genome initiative workshop and summarized the latest developments of cotton research in the past two years. He introduced the assembly of high-quality genome of two tetraploid cotton has been finished by Zhejiang University.

  By attending this conference, we have a comprehensive understanding for the latest research progress in the field of genomics, which provided a reference for our scientific research in cotton genomics. And it also expands our college’s international influence.
