Date:2018-02-28 Hits:102

Huang Yuqing, a Ph.D. candidate of Institute of Crop Science, went to University of Tasmania and Western Sydney University from Jan.22th, 2016 to Jan.22th 2018 for a joint study. This program was supported by China Scholarship Council. She was supervised by Sergey Shabala and Chen Zhonghua at the same time.

Sergey's major expertise is in the area of stress physiology and membrane transport. His group's research focus is on plant adaptive responses to environment. Professor Sergey Shabala has an exceptional publication track record (240 papers; 5 books; 20 book chapters), a high citation rate (Scopus H-index = 54; 9398 citations), and an excellent record for obtaining competitive research grants (over AU$9 million). He was also included in the ISI Highly Cited list for 2016 and 2017, placing him in the top 170 scientists in the world working in the area of Plant and Animal Science, with 14 papers listed as ISI Highly Cited. Dr. Chen’s research work combines plant physiology, plant biotechnology, molecular biology, evolutionary bioinformatics, and cell biology techniques to solve important issues in agricultural and plant science. Dr. Chen’s research work shows high quality and impact in science and primary industries.

During her stay in Australia, Yuqing focused on the Na+K+ subcellular localization of quinoa, barley and wheat under salinity stress; The response of fern stomata’s to ABA and blue light treatment.

Yuqing also participated in receiving delegations from China and other countries, and conducted academic exchanges with the visitors. After two years of joint study, Yuqing learned many advanced technologies, and had a great time in Australia.
