From Feb. 18th to Mar. 3rd, 17 undergraduates from Zhejiang University went to Russia to visit St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for winner culture communication. Mo Hongming, undergraduate from Department of Plant Protection, took part in the program.
St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, abbreviated as SPbPU; also, formerly Saint Petersburg State Technical University, abbreviated as SPbSTU) is a major Russian technical university situated in Saint Petersburg. The university is considered to be one of the top research facilities in Russian Federation and CIS member states and is a leading educational facility in the field of applied physics and mathematics, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering and many other academic disciplines.
14-day-stay, SPbPU offered a lot of speech and classes to ZJU students, for example, Russian traditions, history of St. Petersburg, politics of Russia, and introduction to the Russian Art and so on. Each student took part in these lectures which were up to 82 hours. Also, ZJU students met with the SPbPU students there, and shared intercultural and University experience with them. In the end, ZJU students introduced Zhejiang University to the SPbPU students and sang the songs together with SPbPU students, which gave an excellent reaction.
Besides, under the leading of tutors, ZJU students visited SPbPU campus, like museum, laboratory and FAB labs. At night, students also went to school concert to appreciate traditional Russian music which was given by SPbPU students mainly,.
After class, SPbPU organized ZJU students to visit Heimitage, St.Issac’s Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress and other famous places in St. Petersburg to feel more charm about St. Petersburg, about Russia.
In all, this program gives a chance for ZJU students to know more about university outdoors like SPbPU, especially for those who want to go abroad for further study. On the other hand, outdoors university can also know more about Zhejiang University and students in ZJU through programs like this one, which can strengthen the relationship between two Universities, offer more opportunity for students and then become a win-win project.
