Assoc. Prof. Huang Jianzhong attends FNCA 2017 Workshop on Mutation Breeding Project in Jeju, Korea

At the invitation of the Nuclear Safety Research Association (NSRA) of Japan, assoc. Prof. Huang Jianzhong from Institute of Nuclear Agricultural Sciences attended the annual meeting of FNCA (Forum for Nuclear Cooperation in Asia) Workshop on Mutation Breeding Project held in Jeju, Korea from Oct 31 to Nov 4, 2017. The workshop was jointly hosted by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan and Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), in cooperation with NSRA. Participants came from nine Asian Pacific countries and several organizations: IAEA/RCA, MEXT, Korea Nuclear International Cooperation Foundation (KONICOF) and FNCA.

The purpose of the workshop is to review implementation of the project for the period 2013-2017 in member countries, evaluate important achievements, and consolidate the work plan for the next phase of mutation breeding project under FNCA. Achievements, outputs and work plan were presented by each country and discussed among participants. Cooperation with RCA/IAEA is reviewed and discussed. The minutes were discussed and will be reported at the 19th Coordinators Meeting to be held in March 2018 in Japan. Technical visits were undertaken to Institute for Nuclear Science & Technology and Sub-tropical Horticulture Research Center, both located in Jeju National University.
