Prof. Zhang Tianzhen from Institute of Crop Science visits University of Newcastle

From Oct. 5th to 18th, 2017, Prof. Zhang Tianzhen from Institute of Crop Science visited the University of Newcastle (UoN), Australia, under the financial support of “FACULTY VISITING FELLOWSHIP GRANT – 2017 in UoN”. During his visiting, he gave an academic talk in the title of “Genetic Control of Cotton Fiber Production” for faculty members and PhD students in School for Environmental and Life Sciences (SELS), discussed with Prof. Brett Neilan, head of SELS, faculty members and PhD students of the Biological Science Department in undergraduate education, scientific research and visiting scientist exchange programs, and took part in seminar. Through their previous collaboration with Prof. Ruan YL in this university, they had published collaborative results in the Plant Cell and Plant Biotechnology Journal, etc. During his visiting, they further discussed their established collaboration, and develop new initiatives to expand and deepen their collaboration on cotton fiber development research through formulating joint grant applications and setting up postgraduate/ visiting scientist exchange programs.
