Undergraduate student Xu Hui participates in the summer exchange activity in Singapore

Undergraduate student Xu Hui from department of Horticulture Science attended the summer exchange activity in Singapore during Jul. 23th to 28th2017. They visited four public universities in Singapore and made some investigation.

The two-day trip to visit the universities was abundant. They visited Singapore Management University, National University of Singapore, Singapore University of technology and science and Nanyang Technology University.

Each of the four universities has its own characteristics. Located in the center of the Singapore, SMU has no central campus, only six buildings connected by underground tunnels. The company management mode and direct employment oriented educational philosophy is so different from domestic style. T type underground tunnel can also serve as a perfect stage for the activities of the students’ community, it maximizes the value of the land resource. Creative lab has the impressive, warm and delicate layout. You can have a relaxed reading by a powered bicycle, you can lie on the giant comfortable tatami. Full sense of science and technology in the small space provides a good place for relaxation and stimulates creativity of students.

NUS is the most famous university in Singapore. It is a comprehensive university with complete disciplines. It has a lot of advanced teaching ideas.

Founded four years ago, SUTD attaches great importance to the design and the practice of students. There are many high-tech hardware facilities, such as each classroom equipped with a 3D printer and all kinds of machine tools were installed in the creative workshops.

Located in the west of Singapore, NTU is built on a hillside with beautiful environment. The beehive style study room is not only unique in appearance, but also very advanced in concept. Each university brings the students different feelings, they harvest a lot from the campus trip.

Three-day investigation let them know further about Singapore. During the survey, they had a deeper understanding of the convenience of Singapore’s public traffic. In National Museum of Singapore, they realize the difficulty of Singapore from independence to become a modern country through the history. In the botanical garden, they realize the importance of the ecological balance of nature.

The precious five days passed by quickly. In this unforgettable journey, students not only increased their knowledge, but also gained valuable friendship and unforgettable memories.
