Professor and Students from Institute of Insect Science Investigate Brown Planthopper Geographical Population and Attend Academic Communication

  On the invitation from Laos Plant Protection Division of Rice Research Center, prof. Zhang Chuanxi and PhD students Lou Yihan and Hu Qingling went to Laos to investigate brown planthopper geographical population and attend academic communication during August 2th to 11th, 2017.

  During the period in Laos, Prof. Zhang Chuanxi and the students drove all the way south from the Yunnan border, along the Mohan-Muang Xai-Luang Prabang-Vang vieng-Vientiane-Savannakhet line, went deep insight into the LAOs cultivation of rice, dry rice and the occurrence of rice planthopper. The route went throughout the whole Laos. During the visit to Vientiane, Prof. Zhang and the students visited the Laos Rice Research Center in the company of Somsanong Litthamalay researcher, and had a friendly meeting with him.

  This investigation and academic communication is supported by National Natural Science Fund “genomic diversities of different oversea populations of the rice brown planthopper in South and Southeastern Asia, and the development of migration molecular markers”.
