During July 22 to August 1, 2017, 13 students from College of Agriculture and Biotechnology attended a Leadership Training program at NC State University. Jin Min, deputy secretary of the Party committee in CAB, ZJU, and Qiu Hui, vice secretary of department of students affairs, took part in the program as team leader and assistant.

The leadership training program is named “Leadershape”, which was specially designed for students from Zhejiang University. It’s the first time in more than 10 years that students from several countries (China, the United States and Turkey) have been living in the same classroom, and taking Leadershape courses together. The program aims at setting up a platform for international students to promote cross-cultural communication. The courses lasted for 6 days, during which students learned knowledge about leadership as well as made good friends from different countries.

In addition to the Leadershape Training, students also visited College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS) in NC State University. The two groups from ZJU and NC State made a detailed communication with each other. Two international students from China shared their experience about studying in NC State, which gave the ZJU students a better understanding of the disciplines, teaching methods and scientific research situations in NC State University.

The team also visited Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston. Du Yuandong, an exchage teacher guided the tour in Harvard and introduced many famous palaces, including the Harvard's sculpture, Harvard University library, Center for East Asian Studies, University Museum, etc. Xue Jian, a researcher graduated from ZJU guided the tour in MIT. He introduced his laboratory, McGovern Institute for Brain Research to the group, and gave the students a brief experience of research work in MIT.

The team members learned a lot of knowledge and broadened their horizon during the 12-day program in the USA. Hopefully the experience will bring them a brand-new thought and help a lot on their learning and scientific researches.
