Prof. Xia Yiping visits four American Universities and USDA Fargo Lab

Invited by five professors from Cornell University, University of Georgia, Iowa State University, Auburn University and USDA, ARS (USDA-Agriculture Research Service, sunflower and plant biology research, Fargo), Prof. Xia Yiping paid an academic visit to America during May 22th to June 6th, 2017. This academic visit is mainly focused on the joint training of doctoral students and project cooperation of ornamental horticulture. During this trip, Prof. Xia visited the labs, experimental bases for ornamental plants in these five scientific research institutes and signed a cooperation agreement of Azalea research with Prof. Arora in Iowa State University.

   Two doctoral students of Prof. Xia’s team visited Iowa State University and Auburn University for the joint programs funded by the CSC and Zhejiang University scholarship. They have been working hard and fully admired by their foreign supervisors. Two articles have been submitted to scientific journals in half a year. Before the end of this year, a postdoctoral and a doctoral student in Prof. Xia’s team will join in USDA-ARS of Fargo and Department of Horticulture, Cornell University (funded by college of Agriculture and Biotechnology, ZJU and CSC, respectively). Overall, through this academic visit, the Ornamental Horticulture, second discipline of Horticulture in Landscape Institute, has established a long-term academic communication and cooperation with these five American research institutes.
