Academic Forum for the 120th Anniversary Celebration of Zhejiang University - The Lecture of Prof. Marcel Dicke

On April 17th, Professor Marcel Dicke from Wageningen University in the Netherlands gave an impressive lecture “Ecogenomics of Insect-Plant Interactions” in Zhejiang University, for the 120th anniversary celebration of Zhejiang University. Prof. Liu Shu-Sheng chaired the lecture and Prof. Wang Yue-Fei, the vice dean of College of Agriculture & Biotechnology issued a certificate of appreciation for the guest.

Prof. Marcel Dicke had received various awards. Meanwhile he is an elected member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities. Prof. Marcel Dicke joined Wageningen University in 1997 as the Uyttenboogaart-Eliasen Professor in insect-plant relationships. He studies on volatiles in interactions between plants and insects, molecular ecology of multitrophic interactions, insect food and organisms associated with herbivore. He has published papers more than 350 papers in Nature, Science, Natural Chemical Biology, PNAS, Annual Review of Entomology, New Phytologist and other academic journals, which have been cited more than 18000 times. He was selected as highly cited author for two consecutive years in the Web of Science in 2015 and 2016.

   During the visit, Prof. Marcel Dicke carried out a series of academic activities including face to face interactions with many teachers and students and offered valuable advice on the issues that how to deal with different results in experiments, from which students benefited a lot.
