Undergraduate Wang Jinwen visits university of British Columbia for Vancouver Summer Program

     From July 16th to August 16th, undergraduate Wang Jinwen from college of agriculture and biotechnology participated in the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) offered by the university of British Columbia.

     The Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) is a four-week academic program for cohorts of students from cooperating universities. The program provides the opportunity to take two academic courses while learning about Canadian practices and culture.

     Canada’s education ranks amongst the best in the world, and the university of British Columbia (UBC) is Canada’s third largest university and a leader in research, ranked 32nd in Times Higher Education world rankings (2015), which has 18 faculties and 13 schools offer a wide range of study options. Until now, UBC has 7 Nobel Prize winners among current or former faculty and alumni.

      Wang took two courses relative to environmental economics and GIS. Meanwhile she expanded the knowledge GIS in laboratory. Ending by the successful exams, she earned certificates of honor offered by Arts faculty. Therefore, after the 4 weeks’ program, she improved a lot the communication ability.

      In addition, Wang also went to Rocky Mountains and Banff national park, visiting the Stanley park and Capilano suspension bridge park and many charming attractions in UBC campus and Vancouver. During the period, it happened to be the Vancouver Pride Parade so that students can enjoy the city’s largest and liveliest parade. Fortunately, Wang even saw the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
