On the invitation of Dr. Jesús Navas-Castillo, Prof. Wang Xiaowei from the Institute of Insect Science attended Instituto de Hortofruticultura Subtropical y Mediterránea "La Mayora" (IHSM-UMA-CSIC) in Malaga, Spain from July 3th to 12th, 2016.
During the visit, Prof. Wang Xiaowei and Dr. Jesús Navas-Castillo exchanged information about the join work that we are carrying out in the frame of our collaborative research project “Viral emergence and whitefly: multitrophic interactions in the pathosystem geminivirus/crinivirus‐Bemisia tabaci‐tomato”. They discussed results obtained until now, and examined possibilities of future scientific collaboration. Prof. Wang Xiao-Wei also gave a talk on “The molecular and cellular mechanisms of begomovirus transmission via the whitefly Bemisia tabaci” in the frame of the Doctorate Program “Advanced Biotechnology” at the University of Málaga.
This visit tightens up the collaboration between Dr. Navas-Castillo and Professor Wang Xiao-Wei and increased the impact of Zhejiang University in the area of insect-transmitted plant viruses.
