During Oct. 17-22, 2015, Prof. Bao Jinsong attended the Starch Round Table (SRT) and American Association of Cereal Chemists International (AACCI) 2015 Centennial meeting held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The SRT is a colloquium held every two years that brings together scientists from around the world who are actively working on starch and/or its conversion products with the purpose to serve as a forum for open and stimulating discussion and debate of cutting-edge research in starch science and technology. Dr. Bao made a poster presentation to introduce their progress in the starch properties of transgenic rice expressing the potato GWD gene. After the SRT, Prof. Bao attended the editorial board meeting of Cereal Chemistry, a flagship journal of AACCI. More than 1000 scientists attended the 2015 Centennial meeting of AACCI. Prof. Bao co-chaired the symposium of Rice Constitute, Structure, and Effects of Processing, which was organized by him and Dr. Delilah F. Wood. He also co-orgnized another symposium Reflecting on the past Century and the Role of Asian Market & Products – Where to from Now! In the rice symposium, Prof. Bao gave an oral talk on Identification of phenolic acids and anthocyanins in whole grain rice and their relation to antioxidant capacity.
