Prof. Shu Qingyao attends the FNCA Mutation Breeding Project Meeting held in Darkhan, Mongolia

By invitations of Mr. Chadraabaml Avag, Head, Department of Nuclear Technology and Policy, Nuclear Energy Commission, Mongolia, and Mr. Atsuko Takano, Assistant General Manager, International Department, Japan Nuclear Safety Association, Professor Shu Qingyao attended the Forum of Nuclear Cooperation in Asia (FNCA) Mutation Breeding Project Annual Meeting (2015), held in Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan, Mongolia, 30 August to 3 September, 2015.
The annual meeting was started with an Open Seminar entitled “Nuclear Techniques for Sustainable Agriculture”, which was attended by ~100 researchers from universities, research institutes, as well as private companies from Mongolia. During the meeting, all participating countries reported the progress made and work plan for the coming year. Participants also visited the research facilities (laboratories, greenhouses and experimental fields) in the Department of Plant Science, Mongolia University of Life Science.
The FNCA Mutation Breeding Project was sponsored by the FNCA Secretary, and participated by Bangladesh, China, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Professor Shu was assigned as China National Coordinator for this project.
