4 undergraduates participate in the International Summer Immersion Program in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champion

The college of Agriculture and Biotechnology of Zhejiang University selected 4 excellent undergraduate students to participate in the International Summer Immersion Program (ISIP) in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champion (UIUC) for one month from 16th July to 15th August 2015.
During the program, students, after visiting the campus, joined in the laboratory they selected to practice their research skills. Under the instruction from their mentor and supervisor, students designed their research topics involved in molecular biology and plants ingredient analysis. In addition, they expanded their knowledge of the rules in laboratory, the functions of different kinds of experimental apparatuses, the specific procedures of their topics. After 4 weeks study, students improved observably not only their research skills but scientific researching ideas. After all the works, on the last day, they gave a poster presentation in a seminar to show their results, and their mentors also showed up and gave them some suggestions. Ending by the successful presentation, our students earned certificates of honor. Therefore, after the 5 weeks program, the English level, the communication ability and the leadership of students were improved a lot.
Besides, the four students had a good view about the research environments aboard by take part in the lab seminars, research salons and English workshops. The several trips such as visit to St. Louis, Chicago and Springfield also helped the students know better about the Centre America customs.
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champion, a first-class research university full of world reputation, founded in 1867, is located in a quiet twin cities of Illinois: Urbana-Champaign. UIUC together with the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Michigan are said "big three" in American public schools. Subjects such as Electrical, Computer Science, Materials, Agricultural, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering in UIUC are ranking the top five.
