Five faculty members of Plant Virology Laboratory attend the 34th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Virology held in Western University, Canada

On invitation from the organizing committee of the 34th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Virology (ASV), five faculty members of Plant Virology Laboratory in Institute of Biotechnology CAB, Dr. Zhou Xueping, Dr. Li Zhenghe, Dr. Xie Yan, Dr. Qian Yajuan and Wang Yaqin, attended the 2015 annual meeting held in Western University, London, Ontario, Canada during July 8-15, 2015.
The ASV 2015 program includes symposia, workshops and poster sessions, and special events on a wide range of topics in virology, and drew over six hundreds of scientists all over the world working with bacterial, fungal, plant, animal and human viruses to exchange their ideas and work progresses. During the meeting, Dr. Zhou and Dr. Li were invited by the ASV scientific committee to present talks entitled “Molecular Arm Race between Plant and Geminivirus” and “Reverse Genetic Analysis of a Plant Negative-Strand RNA Virus: Insights into Requirements for Movement and Morphogenesis of Sonchus Yellow Net Virus”, respectively. The participants from CAB also interacted with other virologists to discuss the recent progresses and cutting-edge studies.
After the conference, the CAB delegation was invited to visit the Southern Crop Protection and Food Research Centre (SCPFRC), Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Dr. Aiming Wang, the Vice Dean of SCPFRC, introduced the organization, management and research activities of their centre. Future collaboration possibility was also discussed during the visit.
