Four Undergraduates visit University of Manchester for Winter Program

The college of Agriculture and Biotechnology selected 4 outstanding undergraduate students, qualified with excellent learning abilities, fluent English communication skills and basic experiment experience, to participate in the 4-week winter program, from Jan.31st to Feb.28th 2015. The program is of great significance. On one hand, it broadened the students’ international horizons and improved their structures of knowledge. On the other, their English communication skills and coordinative working were fully trained and apparently leaped to a high level. The team consists of 25 students from different grades and majors of Zhejiang University.
 During the exchange program, students were given several lectures in various academic fields by professors from different college of the University of Manchester, in which we discussed topics about the cultural differences, art appreciation and the development of computer science deeply. Meanwhile, we also accepted the training of English communication and presentation. In addition, during the exchange period, in order to experience the diversity of British culture, we also took part in the weekly day trip tp Chester, York, Liverpool and Lincoln. The University of Manchester enjoys the long-history architectures and modern teaching facilities. We were impressed by its inclusive culture and rigorous scientific attitude of scholarship in the library and museum.
University of Manchester, founded in 1824 is one of the eight best Britain universities, as well as the top 50 universities of the world, whose highest global ranking was 26. UoM landed in Manchester- the second largest city of UK, is also a founding member of the Russell University group and the Top 1 school of British "red brick University". As one of the most leading research and teaching institution in the world, University of Manchester has made contribution to the development of human society, and enjoys high reputation in the world. A total of 25 alumnus of UoM has won the Nobel prize, and 3 current full-time staff is the Nobel award winner.
