New Specific Starch Developed in College of Agriculture and Biotechnology

Capsule orientated rice cultivar “Zheda Gel Rice” was developed in CAB by Prof. Wu Dianxing’ research team through modifying amylose content and amylopectin fine structure. The developed rice starch has moderate amylose content and optimized fine amylopectin structure. This special rice starch can form stable gel structure and has soft gel texture. Many repetitive experiments were made in China Capsule Town- Xinchang County, Zhejiang Province by using this rice starch. There is no difference between traditional capsule and rice starch capsule and this rice starch showed wide applications in industry. This study will add some value to agri-products.
