On Jan.9th, the 2014 National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, in recognition of those technology workers who have made great contributions to Chinese science and technology in 2014. The leaders of the CPC and the State, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan, Zhang Gaoli attended the conference and presented the awards for the winner representatives.
State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, State Natural Sciences Award, State Technology Invention Award, State Science and Technology Progress Award, and International Science and Technology Cooperation Award were conferred at the conference.
Academician Yu Min won the 2014 State Preeminent Science and Technology Award. There were 1 first prize and 45 second prizes of State Natural Sciences Award; 3 first prizes and 67 second prizes of State Technology Invention Award; 3 grand prizes, 26 first prizes and 173 second prizes of State Science and Technology Progress Award. Seven foreign scientists and one foreign organization won International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
The achievement of “Identification, molecular variation and pathogenicity of geminiviruses” undertaken by the research group of Professor Zhou Xueping of CAB won the second prize of 2014 State Natural Science Award.
