The 2nd National Undergraduate Tea Artistry Competition "Phoenix Brand Dianhong Cup" was successfully held in Zhejiang University

From the 29th November to 1st December, the 2nd National Undergraduate Tea Artistry Competition "Phoenix Brand Dianhong Cup" was held in College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Zhejiang University. Tea artistry competitors were from nationwide universities with tea speciality, 148 contestants who came from 19 colleges, participated in this competition, and as a good opportunity, they showed people a magnificent feast of tea culture.
This National Undergraduate Tea Artistry Competition was host by National Experimental Teaching and Demonstration Center of Chinese Colleges, and conducted by Zhejiang University. It aims to exhibit the comprehensive quality of undergraduates, and to integrate the tea spirit of "green, healthy and harmonious" into the personnel education. The whole competition was mainly divided into two parts, Team or Individual, which includes the theory test, specified tea skills, tea seats innovation, tea artistry innovation and so on. The comprehensive quality and the innovative ability were evaluated to each contestant.
On the opening ceremony, the deputy party secretary Mr. Yan Jianhua gave a speech on behalf of Zhejiang University. He pointed that the tea artistry competition was not only a chance for undergraduates to communicate with each other about skills, practice, innovation and teamwork, but also a good try to develop Chinese traditional culture, and that would play an important role in college education. Subsequently, Mr. Zhou Guofu, the deputy director of the National Committee of the CPPCC, the president of China International Tea Culture Research Association, former chairman of the CPPCC Zhejiang Province, declared the opening of the competition.
With numerous participants, large contest scale and high work quality, this competition had been widely concerned. Teams from the nationwide exhibited regional characteristics, rooted national culture, classical history, and present excellent creative tea artistry and connotative tea ceremony. For example, the "Ancient Border Tea" from Sichuan Agricultural University, told us a touching story of ancient culture through the scenes of tea and the passion of Tibetan and Chinese, which combined ancient and modern tea styles to make people understand the hardships for a peaceful civilization. It won the praise of the judges and the audience. During two days of competition, the contestants showed their talents, their spirit of cooperation, and their artistic skills, a number of outstanding works were selected. This is an inheritance of traditional culture, and also an interpretation of innovation and development.
On the closing ceremony, Mr. Lu Guodong, the executive vice president of Undergraduate School of Zhejiang University, Mr. Zhao Jianming, the party secretary of CAB, Zhejiang University, Mr. Liang Yuerong, the president of Tea Research Institute of Zhejiang University, announced the winners of this competition respectively. Two teams from Zhejiang University and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University gained the first prize, Hunan Agricultural University and other five teams won the second prize, Guizhou University and other 11 teams won the third prize. For the innovative tea competition, Zhang Lei and other three individuals won the first prize. For the tea seat design competition, 11 students, 22 students and 33 students individually won the first, second and third prize.
The success of this tea artistry competition was profound for the promotion of Chinese tea culture. It promoted the exchange of artistry skills for undergraduates, and enriched campus culture, which is meaningful to the reform of college experimental teaching and the deepening of individual skill training.
