During Aug. 26-30, 2014, Dr. Chen Kunsong and Dr. Li Xian attend the Wayamba International Conference (WinC-2014, Kuliyapitiya, Sri Lanka). The theme of WinC-2014 is ‘Sustainable Development through Equitable Sharing’. This is the first international conference held by Wayamba University. Scientists from China, Belgium, Japan, America, German and so on attended this conference. The topics of conference include agriculture, ecology, global climate change, food safety, food nutrition and human health, especially the contribution of tropical and subtropical natural resources to the sustainable development of agriculture worldwide.
During the conference, Dr. Chen and Dr. Li visit the Faculty of Agriculture & Plant Management at Wayamba Univrsity. Dr. Li introduced the fruit nutritional studies carried out in Zhejiang University in the past decade. The participants showed high evaluation of the fruit nutrition work in ZJU and expressed sincere cooperation willingness with ZJU.
Dr. Chandana Abeysinghe, head of Department of Plantation Management at Wayamba University, got his Ph.D. degree in Fruit Science Institute of ZJU in 2007. His supervisor is Dr. Chen Kunsong. Such visit strengthened the friendship and better understanding of foreign alumni. In addition, it also expand the international influence of our research on Fruit Quality Biology.
