The ⅩⅩIII Sexual Plant Reproduction Meeting organized by Porto University took place from July 13th to 18th, 2014. Professor CAO Jiashu, associate professor Huang Li and PhD students Dong Heng, Liang Ying, Lv Meiling in Institute of Vegetable Science attended the meeting. This congress is held by the International Association of Sexual Plant Reproduction Research (IASPRR). It is a series of meetings that is organized in turn by universities or research institutes from different continents every two years. Today, its popularity and authority attracts the attendance of almost all the top experts and scholars in the field. To some extent, this meeting has already been a signpost of researches on sexual plant reproduction.
The theme of the congress is: Seeds for the future, involving the researches on flowering and flower organ development, meiosis and apomixes, germline development and function, evolution of reproductive structure and species conservation, self-incompatibility mechanisms, pollen tube growth, fertilization mechanisms, embryogenesis and endosperm development and seed and fruit development. Over two hundred researchers from nearly thirty countries attended. This conference was carried out on a very tight schedule, including 79 reports, 2 Pecha Kucha and 2 poster sessions. Our group presented 3 posters of research progress for the mutual exchange of learning.
