Dr. Zeng Jianbin from institute of crop science visits the Murdoch University for academic exchange

Dr. Zeng Jianbin from institute of crop science paid a visit to the Murdoch University from March 27th 2017 to March 27th 2018.

Prof. Li Chengdao is currently the director of Western Barley Genetics Alliance (WBGA) at Murdoch University in Australia and he was a Principal Molecular Geneticist and Breeder for barley in Department of Agriculture & Food Government of Western Australia from 2000-2014. Prof Li’s research focus on improving barley breeding efficiency by integration of genomics breeding, molecular marker assisted selection, doubled haploid, mutation and conventional breeding. He is the Australian representative in the International Barley Genetics Symposium international organization committee, member of International Barley Genome Sequencing Consortium and Chair of the 13th International Symposium on Pre-harvest Sprouting in Cereals.

During the visit, Dr. Zeng mainly focused on genetic mapping of short rachilla hair gene (srh) and locus for alkali tolerance in barley. In addition, he also conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with researchers and officials from Department of Agriculture and Food (Western Australia) and the Australian Grain Research and Development Corporation (GRDC).
