Date:2018-04-03 Hits:207

From February 20th to February 28th, Prof. Zhang Chuanxi and two PhD students Zhang Xiaoya and Li Danting went to Bangladesh to investigate the occurrence of brown planthopper in Bangladesh, collect and conduct academic exchanges on brown planthopper populations in different parts of Bangladesh, with the invitation of Professor SM Mizenur Rrhman of Bangladesh Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU). While in Bangladesh, Professor Zhang collected brown planthoppers from different rice growing areas with Professor Mizenur’s accompany. He also told local farmers about the occurrence of brown planthoppers in recent years. The teachers and students then visited the Bangladesh Academy of Agricultural Institute (BARI), the Rice Research Institute (BRRI) and the SAU, meanwhile they also exchanged information on their scientific research. During the visiting of the SAU, Professor Zhang made a report named “the functional genome of the brown planthopper”, and Dr. Li and Dr. Zhang also made two oral presentations related to Why can the brown planthopper float on the water surface and Use genetically modified plants to study the interaction between the brown planthopper saliva and rice plant respectively. This investigation and academic exchanges is supported by the National Natural Science Fund : “Research on Genetic Differentiation and Migratory Molecular Markers of Different Populations of Rice Brown Planthopper (Nilaparous).
