Undergraduate student Tong Sijie participates in the exchange program at Singapore University of Technology and Design

  During Sept. 5th to Dec. 20th, Tong Sijie, undergraduate student from College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, participated in the autumn-winter semester exchange program at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).  The undergraduate students exchange program between Zhejiang University and SUTD is an important part of the trilateral cooperation of Zhejiang University, SUTD and MIT. This year, 48 students in total were enrolled.

   This program aims at supporting students to explore advanced culture and trend of society development of Singapore and China, which will achieve complementary advantages in human resources, science and technology, as well as markets in the near future. All four pillars in SUTD, including Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD), Engineering and Product Development (EPD), Engineering System and Design (ESD) and Information System Technology and Design (ISTD), are open for students from ZJU to apply.

   Student Tong Sijie chose two subjects in ASD, plus one EPD subject, and she also spent some extracurricular time to take part in International Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, which enriched her experience of doing scientific research with cross-cultural teams. In addition, together with other nine ZJU students, Tong Sijie was enrolled in TFI LEaRN (Temasek Foundation International Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking) program, which offered precious opportunities for them to meet outstanding applicants from National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University during forums and do social service work to further their culture cognition.

    From this exchange program, students not only improved academic ability and broadened horizon, but also appreciated the charm of special South Asian culture blended with modern technology.
