From Oct. 9th to 13th, the 7th International Rice Blast Conference was held in Manila, Philippines. The Ph.D. candidates Deng Shuzhen and Lv Wuyun who come from the Institute of Biotechnology, attended the conference. The conference was sponsored by the International Rice Research Institute, and more than 200 scholars from all over the world participated in the conference.
The experts from the United States, Britain, China, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore and so on gave academic reports and brought the discussion around the rice blast at this conference. Professor Lin Fucheng made a report titled "Metabolomics and proteomics in Magnaporthe oryzae", which was widely-admired by the domestic and international counterparts. During this meeting, experts and scholars from all over the world lively debated on hot-button issues of the rice blast and communicated with each other. After the meeting, they visited the International Rice Research Institute, and got insight into the well-specification system of field experiment.
The participants acquired the in-depth understanding about the latest dynamics of the research area of rice blast, and the international communication and cooperation among them was strengthened.
