Biography
Associate Professor Zhou Meixue is cereal pre-breeder at the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture, in the School of Land and Food. Meixue's research aligns to the University's research theme of Environment, Resources and Sustainability. His research interests include: (1) development of barley germplasm with stress tolerance (waterlogging, salinity, drought and acid soils), (2) cereal quality improvement, (3) physiological mechanisms for waterlogging and salinity tolerance, and (4) identifying molecular markers associated with the resistance of various stresses and diseases in barley.He has published more than 100 refereed papers and six book chapters. Most of the papers have been published in high IF journals which include PNAS, Plant Physiol, J Exp Bot, Plant Cell Environ, BMC Genom, TAG. has been a Chief Investigator for about 15 research projects, with a total funding of more than AUD 10 M. Most of the projects are related to plant abiotic stress tolerance and disease resistance.
