2013 International Symposium on Tea Science and Tea Culture (2013 ISTSTC)

    November 28th-30th, 2013 International Symposium on Tea Science and Tea Culture was held in Shengzhou city, Zhejiang province. The symposium was hosted by the Tea Science Society of Zhejiang, Zhejiang University Tea Culture and Health Academy, Zhejiang University Tea Research Institute, Korean Tea Society, and Jeju National University Tea Center for Industry-Academy-Research Cooperation. More than 150 participants from China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Germany, Sri Lanka and India attended the symposium ardently discussing about the hot topics of tea science, including tea breeding and cultivation, tea processing and chemistry, as well as tea culture and tea economy.

     During the symposium, five papers were presented at the plenary session, 31 papers were presented at three special sessions, and 20 papers were presented by poster, among which four paper were awarded for excellence. Dr. Xu from Australia, Professor Mewan K. M. from Sri Lanka, Professor Song K. J. from South Korea, and Professor Peter Fleishmann from Germany gave inspiring presentations on various aspects of tea, respectively.

     The symposium achieved a complete success. The achievements of the symposium have a positive and profound impact on the development of tea science, tea culture and tea industry, and also tighten the communication in tea science between different countries.
