 Being established in 1952, Zhejiang University Tea Research Institute is a distinguished research institution of tea science in China. The institute has made remarkable contributions to the development of tea science in the fields of biotechnology & comprehensive utilization of tea resources, tea biochemistry, tea & health, tea processing, tea sensory evaluation & quality appraisal, as well as tea culture & tea enterprise management. With the efforts of several generations of teachers and students, the Institute has been ranked among the leading research institute in the field of tea science at home and aboard.
      

       There are 27 staffs in the Institute, including 7 professors, 8 associate professors, 5 lecturers and 7 teaching assistants. Teaching, scientific research and technical service are core activities of the Institute. In addition to undergraduate students, master degree and doctoral degree graduates, we trained a large number of occupation technical personnels from various provinces for tea industry at home and aboard. The Institute research resources and plateform include tea biotechnology lab, tea resources utilization lab, tea quality appraisal lab, tea garden management and safety production lab, tea comprehensive processing lab, tea chemistry lab, natural products lab and an experimental tea farm.
