From Jul.28th to Aug.7th, Prof. Zhou Yanzhong, assoc. Prof. Xia Xiaojian and assoc. Prof. Zhou Jie visited Boyce Thompson Institute (BTI) institute, Cornell University, for academic exchange. This visit is in response to the invitation of Prof. Daniel Klessig. Prof. Daniel Klessig’ work is concerned on the molecular control of disease resistance in plants, with a particular emphasis on the mechanisms of salicylic acid signal transduction and systemic acquired resistance. During this visit, the team of vegetable growth and development and Prof. Klessig had an in-depth discussion on such topics as the optimization of tomato gene editing technology, the collection of resistant germplasm resources and the construction of mutant libraries. Team members also inspected BTI's intelligent greenhouse, and visited the laboratory of tomato reproductive development, system biology and molecular genetics and Prof. Martin’s germplasm library. Finally, the group reached an agreement with Prof. Klessig and Prof. Martin on establishing a long-term relationship between laboratories.
