The following chapters (Chapter 2 and Chapter  3) deal with physiological significance of seedling management and pruning  practices that are currently used in horticultural cultivation. In addition to  understanding factors determining the specific quality (color, odour, etc.) of  the harvested product, the synthesis and regulation of carotenoid and  organosulfur compounds are described in Chapter 4. Chapter 5 covers a  comprehensive content focusing on the growth and formation of the harvested  product, including fruits, leaf heads, tubers and bulbs.This course is for  students in horticulture, providing the physiological knowledge of understanding  the factors governing the principal growth processes and the formation of the  harvested product, and the possibility of directly utilizing the knowledge for  practical purposes in horticulture.
