PhD student Cao Liwen from Institute of Vegetable Science Visits Cornell University for Joint-Training Program

Cao Liwen, as a Ph.D. student from institute of vegetable science, participated in the joint-training program supported by CSC (China Scholarship Council) at Cornell University from October 7, 2016 to November 30, 2017.

During the 14 months, Cao Liwen performed research in Prof. Li Li’s laboratory. Prof. Li’s research program focuses mainly on gene discovery and elucidation of the molecular mechanisms underlying phytonutrient biosynthesis and micronutrient metabolism, as well as plant biotechnology and biofortification of food crops. The ultimate goal of her research is to improve the nutritional quality and health-promoting properties of food crops. Cao Liwen felt honored to do research in Prof. Li’s lab, and learned much from Prof. Li Li, including knowledge and principles to conduct oneself. She looked forward to further cooperation with Prof. Li.

Besides the research, Cao Liwen took an active part in activities, such as seminars, field day etc., and met a lot of friends in Cornell University It’s definitely a big year for her life.
