Research

We are interested in isolation, cloning and functional characterization of genes involved in critical plant developmental events, and then creation and utilization of new germplasm though molecular breeding approaches. The focus of our work is identification of genes and molecular markers related to pollen formation, fertilization, embryonic development, stress tolerance and disease resistance in cruciferous vegetables such as Chinese cabbage and solanaceous vegetables such as tomato, as well as determining and understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying these developmental events. Meanwhile, we also kept a close watch on innovation of new theories and technologies for molecular breeding in cruciferous vegetables and solanaceous vegetables, and breeding of new varieties in these vegetable crops.
