Associate Prof. Wu Di from Institute of Fruit Science visits Kenya and South Africa

      As the project tasks of “Research on introduction of agricultural biological resources, demands of agricultural techniques and collection of policy information in Southern Africa” (2016-X06) of the 948 project of the Ministry of Agriculture of P.R. China, Associate Prof. Wu Di from Institute of Fruit Science along with Prof. Wei Longbao, vice-president of China Academy for Rural Development (CARD) visited Kenya and South Africa from August 27th to September 7th, 2017. During the visit, they conducted in-depth academic exchanges and field investigations in University of Nairobi in Kenya, University of Pretoria in South Africa and University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. In University of Stellenbosch, Associate Prof. Wu Di had a deep discussion with Prof. Umezuruike Opara, distinguished professor & DST/NRF research chair in postharvest technology, about further strengthen academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation between both sides in the areas of storage, logistics and preservation of postharvest fruit. This visit let the potential strategic partners in Africa had a better understanding of Zhejiang University in the aspects of teaching, scientific research and technical transformation, and has positive significance for the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and further collaboration between Zhejiang University and colleges and universities in Africa.
