Dr. Xue-ren Yin, a member of fruit quality biology group, attended IV International Symposium on Loquat at Palermo, Italy, during 12th – 15th 2014. Loquat symposium is held every four years and is an important platform for loquat international community.
Themes of this symposium included: (1) Cultivars, rootstocks, production and marketing; (2) Biology and ecophysiology; (3) Orchard management and crop protection; (4) Genetic resources, breeding and Biotechnology; (5) Fruit quality and postharvest management. Scientists from USA, Italy, Spain, Portugal, China, Japan, Egypt, presented their recent progress on loquat.
During the symposium, Dr. Yin gave an oral presentation, entitled ‘Transcription factors that correlated with loquat fruit flesh lignification’. Meanwhile, part of Prof. Changjie Xu’s results were presented as poster, entitled ‘Differential accumulation of carotenoids in red- and white-fleshed loquat fruits and leaves in relation to expression of phytoene synthase genes’
