Carl G. Amrhein, Vice President and Professor of the University of Alberta visited our Institute

 On November 27, Professor Carl G. Amrhein and Professor X Chris Le visited the Fruit Science Institute. Professor Amrhein is also the Vice President of the University of Alberta, and received a warm welcome from the head of the Institute, Kun-song Chen. Professor Amrhein visited the laboratories and experimental equipment, accompanied by professor Kun-song Chen.

Professor Kun-song Chen introduced the historical heritage and development of our subject and the fruit quality biology research progress to Professors Amrhein and Le, and they also communicated with other teachers. Meanwhile, Professor Amrhein explained the subject planning and development at the University of Alberta, and there were in-depth exchanges about research cooperation and student exchange. In the end, Professor Carl G. Amrhein sincerely invited professor Kun-song Chen and other members of this team to visit the University of Alberta, in order to enhance mutual understanding and promote further cooperation between the two universities.

During this visit, professor Amrhein showed great interest in our research concerning fruit nutrition and human health, and talked about his interest in the past visit of Professor Gina R. Rayat an expert in the Diabetes Research Institute, University of Alberta, who traveled long distances just for academic cooperation with Zhejiang University. This was triggered when, last November, she read the paper about “Chinese bayberry could ameliorates Hyperglycemia” jointly published by the Fruit Science Institute and the Second Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University College of Medicine, and professor Rayat made a special visit to the Fruit Science Institute, with the University of Alberta foreign affairs division director,, and expressed a strong desire to cooperate with our institute.
