A paper from Fruit Quality Biology Research Team was most popular monthly in BMC Genomics

Date:2012-02-14

The latest research result on Chinese bayberry transcriptional analyses from the team of “Fruit quality biology” was published in “BMC Genomics” (IF = 4.206) on Jan 13th 2012. PhD student Chao Feng and Prof. Ming Chen from the College of Life Sciences were the co-first authors and Prof. Kunsong Chen was the corresponding author. This paper was highly accessed by international counterparts, and became the most popular monthly paper in “BMC Genomics”.
Chinese bayberry (Myrica rubra Sieb. and Zucc.) is a special fruit crop native to China. However, the research on basic biology is weak, especially in the area of molecular biology. In the present work, an RNA-Seq project on different tissues and fruit of three different ripening stages was initiated, and a large amount of sequence information and expression data were obtained. Furthermore, a transcriptional network during fruit development and ripening was built and fruit quality related genes were identified. This research provides a reference for similar study in perennial species.
