Zhejiang University founded the international academic workshop on "Biology of Fruit Quality"

On October 26-27, 2011, Zhejiang University combined with New Zealand Plant and Food Research Institute founded the international academic workshop on " Biology of Fruit Quality", titled “Fruit quality: China and the World”, in Hangzhou. Kun-song Chen, Professor of the College of Agricultural and Biotechnology and Ian Ferguson, “Guangbiao” Professor of ZJU, chief scientist of New Zealand Plants and Food Research Institute, were joint chairmen of this meeting. More than 150 representatives attended the seminar, both domestic and overseas. It is expected that this will initiate a series of high level and high quality international conferences, held on a regular basis.

Vice-president Wu Ping met domestic and overseas representatives participating, and made a passionate speech, hoping this workshop will further advance our cooperation and exchange with world famous universities and research institutions.

Eleven leading scientists from various research areas in the field, come from Cornell University, University of Florida, North Carolina State University, United States Department of Agriculture, the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA)/University of Toulouse, the New Zealand Institute of Plant and Food Research, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, the University of Padova in Italy, Spanish Agriculture Chemical and Food Technology Research Institute, Israel National Agricultural Research Organization, and 15 experts (including teachers from our institute, Changjie Xu, Xian Li, Bo Zhang, Xueren Yin), and others from South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Life Science Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Agricultural University, Huazhong Agricultural University, Shandong Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Qingdao Agricultural University, Zhejiang University, etc., were invited to gave conference reports.

During the workshop, representatives also visited our institute, and were impressed by the research support and laboratories and research strength at our university, and showed a strong interest in the scientific research cooperation and joint training of graduate students.
This workshop vigorously promotes the international cooperation and academic exchanges of scientific and technological aspects of research between China and the world.
