Research Interests
1. Fungal biology. Fusarium graminearum is a destructive pathogenic fungus that widely causes wheat head blight in China. The disease can result in severe direct yield losses and wheat quality reduction by mycotoxin. Our group is interested in understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of F. graminearum and this disease management with integrated approaches including with chemical fungicides, biocontrol agents and agricultural measures.
2. Bacteria-fungi interaction. Physical and metabolic interactions between bacteria and fungi are widespread in nature and have great environmental, medical and agricultural importance. Yet, the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown. In our lab, we use the bacterial biocontrol agents vs the plant pathogenic fungus Fusarium graminearum as a model to investigate the molecular details between the bacterial-fungal interaction.
3. Biological function of microbial biofilm.
