About IPET

   Institute of Pesticide and Environmental Toxicology (IPET) is attached to the department of Plant Protection (one of the state key disciplines) in the College of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Zhejiang University. It confers M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree in pesticide science. Since it was built in 1953, the institute has been conducting researches in terms of pesticide residue detection, environmental toxicology, pesticide synthesis and formulation, pollution control and management. In 1973, it started to preside over the cooperation project of nationwide pesticide residue analysis, consigned by Ministry of Agriculture, P.R. China. In 1980, it held the key project from “65” National Technology R & D Program. Up to now, IPET is authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture as the qualified unit to perform experiments on pesticide residue analysis, environmental toxicology and behavior assessment for pesticide registration. Meanwhile, it is qualified as the testing unit for new chemical registration by Ministry of Environmental Protection, P.R. China. Besides, it is one of the contract laboratories for Sino-Dutch Pesticide Environmental Risk Assessment Project.
